[00:01:09] [SPEAKER_00]: I have been writing down an intention of how I'd like to feel in the morning.

[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_00]: I want to wake up with peace in my heart and know that things are okay.

[00:01:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Then in the evening, I open up my journal again and ask myself,

[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_00]: how did I do?

[00:01:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Was I peaceful or aligned or at ease?

[00:01:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes the answer is yes, and sometimes of course it is no.

[00:01:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Peace can be a hard thing to come by.

[00:01:50] [SPEAKER_00]: There are so many forces pulling on our attention.

[00:01:53] [SPEAKER_00]: We have a 24-hour news cycle almost exclusively sharing bad news

[00:01:58] [SPEAKER_00]: and tiny computers in our hands that connect us to the whole world and countless distractions.

[00:02:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Social media is designed to get and keep our attention,

[00:02:09] [SPEAKER_01]: and oftentimes it's on things that are not good for us.

[00:02:12] [SPEAKER_01]: People can get a hold of us anywhere, anytime,

[00:02:16] [SPEAKER_00]: which while convenient,

[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_00]: means you have to be intentional about holding down time for yourself and disconnecting.

[00:02:24] [SPEAKER_00]: You've likely heard the advice to not look at your phone first thing in the morning.

[00:02:30] [SPEAKER_00]: I used to fall prey to opening my eyes in the morning,

[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_00]: reaching for my phone and checking my email,

[00:02:36] [SPEAKER_00]: letting the world into my mental space before I had a chance to set the tone for my day or even wake up a little bit.

[00:02:43] [SPEAKER_00]: This is now a hard no for me and I am deeply protective of my morning routine.

[00:02:48] [SPEAKER_00]: The reason? I want to give myself a chance to design the day I want to have,

[00:02:54] [SPEAKER_00]: not let the world dictate it for me.

[00:02:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I want to give myself a chance at peace.

[00:03:01] [SPEAKER_00]: The same thing is true at night.

[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_00]: I turn off all screens at about 8 p.m. and let myself wind down,

[00:03:08] [SPEAKER_00]: journaling, reading, and of course meditating.

[00:03:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Meditating helps me to let go of any worries or concerns

[00:03:16] [SPEAKER_01]: and also lets my mind know it's time to rest.

[00:03:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Here's to that sweet inner peace which we have access to anytime we reach for it.

[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_00]: The Dalai Lama once said,

[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Do not let the behavior of others destroy your inner peace.

[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_00]: This can be easier said than done,

[00:03:45] [SPEAKER_00]: but tonight we will endeavor to build up our internal defenses

[00:03:49] [SPEAKER_00]: and cleanse ourselves of any energies that may have built up within us.

[00:03:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Working on yourself and your inner peace is a daily job.

[00:03:59] [SPEAKER_01]: You can work hard to create a safe space within your mind and within your life,

[00:04:05] [SPEAKER_01]: but the inner work needs to be done every day to keep you in that peaceful place.

[00:04:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Peace of mind and positive mental well-being is not a destination.

[00:04:17] [SPEAKER_00]: It is a journey that we are forever traveling.

[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_01]: We are constantly developing, learning, growing and changing.

[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_01]: With that comes ever-changing circumstances and ways of thinking and feeling.

[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_01]: But sometimes half of the journey to inner peace

[00:04:38] [SPEAKER_01]: is protecting yourself from the outside world.

[00:04:41] [SPEAKER_01]: How can you stop things in the outside world

[00:04:44] [SPEAKER_01]: from disturbing the progress you have made?

[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, let's try together, shall we?

[00:04:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's spend some time healing, building up our defensive walls

[00:04:56] [SPEAKER_01]: and protecting ourselves from external elements that disturb our inner peace.

[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_01]: If you're not already, close your eyes and lie back on something soft.

[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Wherever you are, make sure you are comfortable.

[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_01]: If you have a blanket, cover yourself up in it and place a pillow underneath your head.

[00:05:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's get as cozy as possible for this guided meditation.

[00:05:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Very slowly rock your head from side to side, burrowing further back into your pillow.

[00:05:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Rock once, twice, three times, four times

[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_01]: and then find a neutral position in the middle for your head and neck to relax into the pillow.

[00:05:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Next, roll your shoulders gently back and down.

[00:05:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Feel your shoulder blades massage your muscles as you roll them a few times.

[00:06:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Round and back, round and back, round and back.

[00:06:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Keep it slow and gentle.

[00:06:16] [SPEAKER_01]: And when your shoulder blades feel warm, release and allow your shoulders and upper back to melt into the soft surface beneath you.

[00:06:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Now let's work on the hips and the lower back.

[00:06:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Tilt your hips from side to side and round in a circle if you feel like it.

[00:06:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Then release.

[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Your hips and pelvis should fall into a relaxed, neutral position.

[00:06:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Do this as many times as you need to get comfortable.

[00:07:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Don't stop shifting your body until you find the perfect position to rest in.

[00:07:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Bend your legs gently at the knee to unlock them.

[00:07:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Allow the back of your knees to lift up and down a couple of times until your legs feel loose.

[00:07:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Then let your knees relax down softly.

[00:07:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Allow your feet to fall out to the sides if they want to.

[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Let go of all tension and control in your legs.

[00:07:47] [SPEAKER_01]: They have done a lot for you today.

[00:07:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Now allow them to rest.

[00:07:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Wiggle your toes a few times.

[00:07:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Feel your toes rub against each other back and forth.

[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Back and forth.

[00:08:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Back and forth.

[00:08:13] [SPEAKER_01]: After a few wiggles, release control and allow your feet to fall into stillness and relax.

[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's take some deep breaths to settle into our stillness.

[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Breathe in through your nose and breathe out slowly.

[00:08:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Focus on savoring each breath in and out.

[00:08:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Breathe in.

[00:08:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Feel your lungs expand with soothing, rejuvenating air.

[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_01]: And breathe out.

[00:09:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Push out every last morsel of air.

[00:09:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Savor the release.

[00:09:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Breathe in.

[00:09:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Breathe out.

[00:09:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Breathe in.

[00:09:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Breathe out.

[00:09:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Breathe in.

[00:09:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Breathe out.

[00:09:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Visualize a translucent bubble around your whole body.

[00:09:40] [SPEAKER_01]: The bubble emanates a pink glow and it is warm inside.

[00:09:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Your whole body feels snug and soothed within its embrace.

[00:09:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Picture the bubble wrapping its way around your entire body.

[00:10:07] [SPEAKER_01]: The pink gel walls sweep over your face, relaxing all of the muscles in your brow and in your jaw.

[00:10:21] [SPEAKER_01]: The built up tension from the day is melted away by the bubbles nurturing palm.

[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Notice how the glowing bubble travels and wraps itself all the way around your shoulders, your torso, your arms and fingers,

[00:10:49] [SPEAKER_01]: your legs and your feet.

[00:10:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Not an inch of you is left out.

[00:11:00] [SPEAKER_01]: You are wrapped up.

[00:11:03] [SPEAKER_01]: You are warm and you are safe.

[00:12:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Spend a few moments enjoying the pulsating of the warm pink glow against your skin.

[00:12:21] [SPEAKER_01]: It is a gentle warmth that fills your body with waves of tranquility and relaxation.

[00:12:37] [SPEAKER_01]: The glow radiates out into the room.

[00:12:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Your whole body feels weightless within this bubble.

[00:12:52] [SPEAKER_01]: The pink light is moving through your body, starting at the top of your head and rolling all the way down to your feet.

[00:13:10] [SPEAKER_01]: When the light reaches the bottom of your body,

[00:13:14] [SPEAKER_01]: it flows up and out into the air, cleansing you of your negative energies.

[00:13:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Pay attention to this wash of light moving through you.

[00:13:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Visualize it scanning all the way through your body

[00:13:45] [SPEAKER_01]: and pushing everything you don't need out of you and back out into the atmosphere.

[00:13:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Allow it to do its work.

[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Just visualize the bubble around you keeping you safe

[00:14:11] [SPEAKER_01]: and feel your body's energy changing with every pulse of light channeling through you.

[00:14:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Try not to think of anything else.

[00:14:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Focus only on the visualization and the feeling of warming, cleansing energies moving through you.

[00:15:38] [SPEAKER_01]: You are safe.

[00:15:40] [SPEAKER_01]: You are calm.

[00:15:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Many negative energies are being washed away.

[00:16:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Your energy and your aura are changing.

[00:16:57] [SPEAKER_01]: The bubble is absorbing any bad energies that you have taken on from others.

[00:17:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Acknowledge the troublesome energies bubbling inside you.

[00:17:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Who do they belong to?

[00:17:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Identify each one individually.

[00:17:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Does the feeling belong to you or have you adopted it as your own?

[00:17:44] [SPEAKER_01]: If it is not yours to hold,

[00:17:47] [SPEAKER_01]: push it away from you and allow the pink glowing bubble around your body to absorb it.

[00:18:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe your bubble is growing bigger.

[00:19:03] [SPEAKER_01]: That is okay.

[00:19:05] [SPEAKER_01]: That means it is working.

[00:19:09] [SPEAKER_01]: The energetic bubble is doing its job.

[00:19:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Keep identifying any troublesome energies within you.

[00:19:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Who do they belong to?

[00:19:27] [SPEAKER_01]: If they are not for you, push them away.

[00:20:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Take a deep breath in.

[00:20:35] [SPEAKER_01]: See the bubble expand along with your breath.

[00:20:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Breathe out and watch the glowing pink light grow brighter and brighter.

[00:20:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Breathe in.

[00:20:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Now the bubble is lifting up into the air.

[00:20:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Watch as it begins to float above your body.

[00:21:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Breathe out and watch the energetic bubble float higher up into the air.

[00:21:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Take an even deeper breath in.

[00:21:17] [SPEAKER_01]: And notice how the bubble of light begins to glitter and gleam above you.

[00:21:26] [SPEAKER_01]: The bubble is evaporating.

[00:21:29] [SPEAKER_01]: You can still feel the warm glow up above radiating down onto your body.

[00:21:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Breathe out and watch the energies dispersing and disappearing as if they were never here at all.

[00:21:54] [SPEAKER_01]: As you watch the troublesome energies fade away up above you.

[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_01]: You notice your body feels lighter and your head feels clearer.

[00:22:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Keep breathing in deeply and push out all the air on the exhale.

[00:22:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Do this until the bubble completely evaporates and the room descends into darkness.

[00:24:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Allow your breathing to return to normal,

[00:24:36] [SPEAKER_01]: reveling in the blissful darkness with your revived, energetically cleansed body and mind.

[00:24:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Breathe in.

[00:24:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Breathe out.

[00:24:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Breathe in.

[00:24:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Breathe out.

[00:25:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Breathe in.

[00:25:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Breathe out.

[00:25:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Whenever you feel like you may be absorbing energies that don't feel right or settle well within you,

[00:25:20] [SPEAKER_01]: stirring up undesirable emotions, picture this bubble around you.

[00:25:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Visualize the pink light glowing outwards and pushing away any energies trying to penetrate your bubble.

[00:25:45] [SPEAKER_01]: You can observe and acknowledge things around you without letting them in.

[00:25:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Not everything that happens has to impact you.

[00:25:59] [SPEAKER_01]: You are not responsible for the actions of others or the choices they make.

[00:26:10] [SPEAKER_01]: You do not need to take on other people's emotions in order to sympathize with them.

[00:26:19] [SPEAKER_01]: You can be there for people without adopting their problems as your own.

[00:26:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Remember these words and repeat them to yourself whenever you feel like your inner peace is being disturbed by someone else.

[00:26:42] [SPEAKER_01]: This is not my burden to bear.

[00:26:48] [SPEAKER_01]: These emotions don't belong to me.

[00:26:54] [SPEAKER_01]: I am safe.

[00:26:56] [SPEAKER_01]: I am calm.

[00:26:57] [SPEAKER_01]: These emotions will not disturb my internal peace.

[00:27:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Try to remember these words for the next time you feel like you are becoming overwhelmed by the outside world.

[00:27:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Recite these words aloud in your mind with me now.

[00:32:29] [SPEAKER_01]: If it weren't for our emotions, we would struggle to make connections with others,

[00:32:35] [SPEAKER_01]: and we wouldn't understand how to deal with different situations that arise.

[00:32:44] [SPEAKER_01]: We wouldn't have evolved as a species in the way that we have,

[00:32:50] [SPEAKER_01]: or achieved such incredible advancements.

[00:32:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Our emotions protect us, enliven us,

[00:33:05] [SPEAKER_01]: and make life a magical experience, as with anything in life.

[00:33:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Where there is good, there is bad,

[00:33:21] [SPEAKER_01]: there must be balance in all things.

[00:33:30] [SPEAKER_01]: If we didn't acknowledge the yin, then how could we appreciate the yang?

[00:33:40] [SPEAKER_01]: If you notice your emotions responding in a certain way,

[00:33:45] [SPEAKER_01]: don't hold back from asking yourself,

[00:33:49] [SPEAKER_01]: why?

[00:33:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Why do I feel like this?

[00:33:54] [SPEAKER_01]: What has caused me to feel this way?

[00:34:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes it isn't ourselves and our own emotions and issues that stir things up within our internal world.

[00:34:10] [SPEAKER_01]: It can be other people.

[00:34:13] [SPEAKER_01]: It can be easy to disturb your inner peace with other people's problems.

[00:34:22] [SPEAKER_01]: It could be the angry driver who cursed at you on your way to buy groceries.

[00:34:29] [SPEAKER_01]: It could be listening to your friend who is going through a hard time.

[00:34:35] [SPEAKER_01]: It could be a conflict within your family, or a difficult situation at work.

[00:34:44] [SPEAKER_01]: When we care about others, it can be easy to take on their troubles too.

[00:34:50] [SPEAKER_01]: We are all empathetic to a degree.

[00:34:58] [SPEAKER_01]: And the more in tune you are to other people's emotions,

[00:35:03] [SPEAKER_01]: the more other people can inadvertently disturb your inner peace without even trying.

[00:35:12] [SPEAKER_01]: It can be as simple as them venting to you about an inconvenience,

[00:35:17] [SPEAKER_01]: or talking about difficult situations,

[00:35:21] [SPEAKER_01]: and suddenly you feel they are hurt and disgruntled as if it were your own.

[00:35:31] [SPEAKER_01]: In these circumstances, you need to have coping mechanisms in place that you can turn to.

[00:35:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Things that help return you to the path of peace.

[00:35:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Nobody can bring you peace but yourself, Ralph Waldo Emerson once wisely said.

[00:35:58] [SPEAKER_01]: And it is true.

[00:36:01] [SPEAKER_01]: It's good to have somewhere you can go within yourself,

[00:36:06] [SPEAKER_01]: somewhere to retreat to that reminds you that you are safe.

[00:36:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Visualize a long corridor.

[00:36:21] [SPEAKER_01]: At the end of the corridor is a single door.

[00:36:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Behind this door is a room.

[00:36:32] [SPEAKER_01]: This room is just for you.

[00:36:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Nobody can enter except for you.

[00:36:43] [SPEAKER_01]: It is a room perfectly concocted to make you feel safe and content.

[00:36:52] [SPEAKER_01]: It is filled with only wonderful things that instantly make you feel happy and content.

[00:37:03] [SPEAKER_01]: The only stipulation for entry into this room is that you leave your baggage at the door.

[00:37:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Other people can't come in, and you can only unlock it if you abandon negativity before entering.

[00:37:24] [SPEAKER_01]: This is a safe space for you alone.

[00:37:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Walk down the corridor.

[00:37:37] [SPEAKER_01]: It is a tall wooden door with a golden doorknob.

[00:37:42] [SPEAKER_01]: It is easy to unlock the door.

[00:37:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Simply breathe in for 5 seconds.

[00:37:53] [SPEAKER_01]: And breathe out for 5.

[00:37:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Breathe in for 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

[00:38:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Breathe out for 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

[00:38:13] [SPEAKER_01]: One more time.

[00:38:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Breathe in for 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

[00:38:22] [SPEAKER_01]: And breathe out for 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

[00:38:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Clutch the golden doorknob and twist it.

[00:38:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Push open the door and walk into your own room.

[00:38:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Take some time to take it all in.

[00:38:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Visualize a relaxing room that is all yours.

[00:38:56] [SPEAKER_01]: What is in this room?

[00:38:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Is there a bed or a sofa or a comfy chair for you to lie in?

[00:39:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Are there paintings or pictures on the walls?
