[00:00:24] Hey, Karissa here, and welcome to Sleep Wave. This is a mini meditation, just a few quiet minutes to help you slow down. You can listen to this on its own, or if you're in bed, let it gently lead you into one of my longer sleep meditations afterwards.

[00:00:40] There's a particular kind of tiredness that's hard to describe. Your body is done, heavy, still, ready. But your mind is still moving, still turning things over, still somewhere in the middle of the day.

[00:01:04] If that's where you are tonight, I want you to know, it's not a failure. Your mind is just doing what minds do, and it doesn't have to stop all at once. It just has to start following your body's lead. Bring your attention to your breath. Inhale slowly through your nose.

[00:01:30] Exhale gently through your mouth. Again, breathe in calm, and breathe out thinking. Let your breath settle into its own quiet rhythm. Slow, easy, nothing forced.

[00:02:01] Now, bring your attention to your body. If you're in bed, feel the weight of your head on the pillow. Notice how the bed is already holding you fully, without any effort on your part.

[00:02:27] Your shoulders softening now. Your shoulders softening now. Your arms heavy. Your hands open and still. Your legs sinking a little deeper. Your body isn't waiting for sleep. It's already moving toward it.

[00:02:57] We're just giving your mind.

[00:03:00] We're just giving your mind time to catch up. Now, imagine a room, dimly lit and very still. A single soft light glowing in the corner. With each breath out, that light dims a little. Not all at once, just gradually.

[00:03:36] First, the edges of the edges of the room soften into shadow. Then the middle grows quieter. The light isn't gone. Just lower. Gentler. And your thoughts can do the same. They don't need to disappear.

[00:04:00] They can simply become more distant. Less urgent. Like voices in another room that slowly fade away. Repeat softly with me.

[00:04:19] My body is already resting. My mind can follow in its own time. I don't need to force anything tonight. Sit with that last one for a moment.

[00:04:45] I don't need to force anything tonight. Not sleep. Stillness. Just this breath in the neck.

[00:05:11] Notice how your thoughts feel now. A little slower, maybe. A little less insistent. Come back to your breath. Easy.

[00:05:37] Inhale slowly through your nose. Inhale gently through your mouth. Breathe in. Calm. Take one last deep inhale.

[00:06:16] And a long, gentle. Your body knows the way from here. Your mind can drift along behind it. If you'd like to continue our practice, you're welcome to play one of my full-length sleep meditations that'll guide you into sleep. Whichever you choose, sleep well tonight.
