[00:01:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes there is nothing better to quiet your mind from the worries of the day than
[00:01:10] [SPEAKER_00]: to take a vacation from it. And what better way to go on vacation than to travel first
[00:01:15] [SPEAKER_00]: class? I've been lucky enough to fly first class a few times and it is always so fun
[00:01:21] [SPEAKER_00]: and luxurious. Simple things like drinking out of a real glass or a meal on a plate with
[00:01:27] [SPEAKER_00]: crystal salt and pepper shakers on the side take on a new shine when in flight. It's
[00:01:33] [SPEAKER_00]: also so much easier to relax with cozier chairs and more leg room. It makes travel
[00:01:40] [SPEAKER_00]: fun and easy and enjoyable right from the start.
[00:01:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Get ready to relax as you join me in first class.
[00:01:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Lie down and get comfortable in your bed. Close your eyes, take a deep breath in and
[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_00]: as you breathe out, imagine all of your worries and tensions flying away on the wings of
[00:02:05] [SPEAKER_00]: an airplane. Buckle your seatbelt because in tonight's story, we will be flying in
[00:02:12] [SPEAKER_00]: first class, joining Samuel as he meets the woman of his dreams.
[00:02:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Samuel laid his head back into the solid headrest and attempted to get comfortable. He had a
[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_00]: long 11 hour flight ahead of him and he wanted the time to pass as quickly as possible while
[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_00]: he slept. Luckily, Samuel was seated in the aisle seat at the front of his section where
[00:02:46] [SPEAKER_00]: there was a little more leg room than usual. It wasn't quite comfy enough to stretch
[00:02:53] [SPEAKER_00]: out and sleep but it was better than the cramped rows behind him. Next to him was an elderly
[00:03:02] [SPEAKER_00]: lady of around 80 years old. The sweet dear was clearly a robust and seasoned traveler,
[00:03:11] [SPEAKER_00]: however, her elderly partner who was seated further down the plane seemed to be struggling
[00:03:18] [SPEAKER_00]: a little. As the other passengers all found their seats and placed their bags in the overhead
[00:03:27] [SPEAKER_00]: lockers, the elderly woman kept waving down the plane, reassuring her husband that everything
[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_00]: would be alright. Each time she sat back in her window seat, she apologized to Samuel for
[00:03:45] [SPEAKER_00]: the disruption. Samuel assured her each time that it was no trouble. He smiled at the woman and asked,
[00:03:58] [SPEAKER_00]: is he a nervous flyer? A little, the woman replied. He hasn't flown in many years and
[00:04:06] [SPEAKER_00]: he doesn't like the fact that our seats are far apart. He will be fine eventually.
[00:04:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Samuel looked at the elderly gentleman down the plane as he kept glancing over his shoulder
[00:04:20] [SPEAKER_00]: to catch his wife's eye for reassurance. Poor guy, Samuel thought. As the last passenger
[00:04:29] [SPEAKER_00]: boarded the plane, the crew prepared everyone for liftoff. It wasn't long before they were
[00:04:37] [SPEAKER_00]: flying through the air and heading toward their destination, Los Angeles. It was a smooth liftoff
[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_00]: and Samuel kept his eyes closed the whole time, willing himself to fall asleep.
[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Samuel was used to flying. He was a recruitment consultant and he was often required to travel
[00:05:04] [SPEAKER_00]: all over the world, meeting clients and setting up interviews and meetings for high-profile
[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_00]: companies. Tomorrow, Samuel had a big meeting with the CEO of a tech company that was looking
[00:05:21] [SPEAKER_00]: for a new chief financial officer. Samuel was keen to link up with the company and aid them
[00:05:30] [SPEAKER_00]: in their search. He had a number of highly experienced clients that he thought would be
[00:05:38] [SPEAKER_00]: a great fit for the role and the commission from the deal would be the final push that Samuel needed
[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_00]: to be able to afford to buy an apartment of his own in London. His attempts at drifting off
[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_00]: were interrupted once more when the seatbelt sign was turned off. The elderly woman next to him
[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_00]: immediately stood up in her seat and called down the plane in a creaky, sweet voice,
[00:06:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Gerald, are you all right down there? Gerald hollered back in an uncertain tone.
[00:06:16] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm okay, Pauline. I'll see you in 11 hours. Samuel's eyes flicked open and he glanced down
[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_00]: the plane. Gerald looked like he was due to have a nervous breakdown any second
[00:06:32] [SPEAKER_00]: and Pauline showed no signs of stopping her constant check-ins throughout the long flight.
[00:06:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Samuel pulled the inflatable head support off his neck and turned to Pauline.
[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Would you like me to swap seats with your husband? Samuel asked her. I'm happy to move
[00:06:58] [SPEAKER_00]: so that you can both sit next to each other and feel more comfortable during the flight.
[00:07:04] [SPEAKER_00]: It's a long time to be apart. Pauline looked like she might throw her arms around Samuel in gratitude
[00:07:15] [SPEAKER_00]: or plant a bright red-lipped kiss on his cheek. She was touched that Samuel would offer up his
[00:07:24] [SPEAKER_00]: seat to a stranger. Samuel assured her that it was no trouble and he would rather that the pair
[00:07:32] [SPEAKER_00]: had a pleasant flight together. Pauline didn't waste any time and called down the plane to
[00:07:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Gerald. Gerald was just as delighted as Pauline and he promptly rose from his seat
[00:07:52] [SPEAKER_00]: and hobbled up the narrow aisle of the plane. Samuel pulled his hand luggage out from underneath
[00:08:03] [SPEAKER_00]: his seat and held up his other hand to gesture to Gerald to sit down. Gerald patted him on the
[00:08:14] [SPEAKER_00]: shoulder as he slid into the seat and said, you're a good lad. Thank you for your generosity.
[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Samuel smiled at the elderly couple and made his way down the plane to find Gerald's old seat.
[00:08:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Having to move into a less spacious seat wasn't ideal, but he hoped that he could,
[00:08:44] [SPEAKER_00]: hopefully now, rest in peace for the rest of the flight.
[00:08:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Just as Samuel was about to sit down in Gerald's previous seat, one of the air stewardesses
[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_00]: appeared by his side. Excuse me, sir, she whispered in a hushed tone,
[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_00]: please can you follow me for one moment? The air stewardess turned on her heels and marched down
[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_00]: to the front of the airplane. The air stewardess stood by the curtain that separated his carriage
[00:09:28] [SPEAKER_00]: from business class and held it open for him, beckoning him through. Samuel's hopes began to
[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_00]: lift. Was he about to bag himself a surprise upgrade? He followed the air stewardess as she
[00:09:47] [SPEAKER_00]: led him further down the plane. They walked past the passengers in business class, relaxing
[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_00]: and watching their mini television sets, enjoying their extra legroom. The air stewardess led Samuel
[00:10:07] [SPEAKER_00]: through the curtain at the front and into the first class cabin. He looked around and immediately
[00:10:18] [SPEAKER_00]: felt out of place. All of the first class passengers were reclined as far back as possible
[00:10:28] [SPEAKER_00]: with enough legroom to allow for three more rows of seats in front of them.
[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_00]: They all sipped glasses of champagne or tumblers of whiskey and lounged beneath luxurious blankets
[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_00]: with pillows underneath their heads. Partition walls were propped up between each chair to
[00:10:57] [SPEAKER_00]: preserve their privacy, and passengers watched TV screens that folded out from the side of their
[00:11:06] [SPEAKER_00]: chairs. First class was a totally different environment to what Samuel was used to.
[00:11:19] [SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't cramped, stuffy, and noisy like economy class where he had begun his trip.
[00:11:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Instead, it was quiet and peaceful. Every first class passenger kept to themselves
[00:11:41] [SPEAKER_00]: and enjoyed their spacious luxury. It was a dreamy setup for an eleven hour flight.
[00:11:52] [SPEAKER_00]: The air stewardess finally stopped in front of an empty first class seat.
[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_00]: She gestured to the chair and looked at Samuel as she informed him that this
[00:12:07] [SPEAKER_00]: would now be his seat for the flight. Samuel was flabbergasted. Why was he getting such an
[00:12:17] [SPEAKER_00]: incredible upgrade? The air stewardess explained that she had been so impressed by his kind gesture
[00:12:27] [SPEAKER_00]: of offering up his seat for the elderly couple that it had spurred in her the longing to do
[00:12:35] [SPEAKER_00]: something kind for him in return. Samuel was very grateful, but he insisted that what he had done
[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_00]: wasn't a big deal. All of a sudden, a husky female voice spoke up from the seat next to them.
[00:12:56] [SPEAKER_00]: The voice said from behind a privacy wall,
[00:13:01] [SPEAKER_00]: as much as you'd like to hope that others would do the same, not everybody would.
[00:13:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Most people would have prioritized their own comfort.
[00:13:14] [SPEAKER_00]: A delicate, perfectly manicured hand reached out and pulled the privacy screen aside
[00:13:22] [SPEAKER_00]: to reveal a young, beautiful woman sitting in the seat next to the one offered to Samuel.
[00:13:35] [SPEAKER_00]: She had long, straight, honey blonde hair and dazzling brown eyes.
[00:13:45] [SPEAKER_00]: She smiled widely and her perfect white teeth sparkled. She wore a comfy pair of joggers
[00:13:56] [SPEAKER_00]: and a hoodie, ideal for traveling on a long-haul flight.
[00:14:02] [SPEAKER_00]: And a cup of hot tea was sitting on her side table, waiting to be drunk.
[00:14:10] [SPEAKER_00]: As Samuel looked at his new neighbor, he felt his knees buckle slightly beneath him.
[00:14:18] [SPEAKER_00]: He suddenly felt very inadequate in her presence. He had never seen someone so beautiful.
[00:14:32] [SPEAKER_00]: The air stewardess asked what Samuel would like to drink, and he ordered a beer before she wandered
[00:14:40] [SPEAKER_00]: off, leaving him alone with the beautiful woman in first class.
[00:14:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Samuel sat down in his new seat and instantly melted into the soft leather of the cushions.
[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_00]: He had never sat in such a comfortable chair before, and certainly not on an airplane.
[00:15:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Samuel was used to slumming it in economy class, so he thanked his lucky stars for this opportunity
[00:15:21] [SPEAKER_00]: to enjoy first class free of charge. It was made even better by the stunning woman
[00:15:33] [SPEAKER_00]: sitting to his side. Samuel was surprised to discover that the woman wasn't showing any signs
[00:15:45] [SPEAKER_00]: of leaving him alone just yet. In fact, she seemed to be intrigued by him.
[00:15:57] [SPEAKER_00]: The beautiful woman introduced herself to Samuel as Giselle. Samuel couldn't help but think
[00:16:08] [SPEAKER_00]: that the name suited her perfectly. It was an ethereal name, and Giselle had an enchanting
[00:16:20] [SPEAKER_00]: presence. She looked as if she could be royalty. He asked her as such, and she laughed and declared
[00:16:31] [SPEAKER_00]: that she wasn't lucky enough to be a member of the royal family. But she said that she did have
[00:16:39] [SPEAKER_00]: a feeling that she was the lost princess, Anastasia, in a previous life.
[00:16:46] [SPEAKER_00]: What brings you to LA? Giselle asked Samuel in her husky tone,
[00:16:52] [SPEAKER_00]: picking up her cup of tea and cradling it in her hands. Samuel explained how he was flying into LA
[00:17:04] [SPEAKER_00]: for a big meeting. Giselle was impressed by the sound of his illustrious work,
[00:17:13] [SPEAKER_00]: and wished him the best of luck for his meeting the next day.
[00:17:21] [SPEAKER_00]: As they continued to talk to one another, Samuel found her more and more endearing.
[00:17:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Giselle was half English and half Irish, and spent her life growing up between the two countries.
[00:17:41] [SPEAKER_00]: She had attended drama school at just 16, and had been pursuing a career in the performing arts
[00:17:50] [SPEAKER_00]: ever since. She had a positive aura, and Samuel felt calm in her presence,
[00:18:01] [SPEAKER_00]: as well as eager to know more about her. The conversation flowed, and the hours ticked by.
[00:18:13] [SPEAKER_00]: What should have been a monotonous, uncomfortable, 11-hour flight across the world
[00:18:22] [SPEAKER_00]: was turning into a fun, exciting, relaxing flight that was going far too quickly for Samuel's liking.
[00:18:36] [SPEAKER_00]: How did you wrangle your way into first class, then? Samuel teased, winking at her.
[00:18:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Did you offer up your seat to a stranger too, to get bumped up?
[00:18:51] [SPEAKER_00]: He was intrigued to find out more about Giselle.
[00:18:57] [SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't every day that you bumped into a beautiful woman like her in first class.
[00:19:05] [SPEAKER_00]: He wondered if she was the daughter of an oil tycoon, or the wife of an aristocrat.
[00:19:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Giselle smiled coyly, and replied in her soft accent,
[00:19:20] [SPEAKER_00]: I worked very hard to wrangle my way into first class, actually.
[00:19:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Not all of us can commit a kind act for someone in back of freebie.
[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_00]: She gave Samuel a wink, and took a sip of her tea. The words rolled off her tongue,
[00:19:43] [SPEAKER_00]: and Samuel felt like he was melting in her presence. Giselle was sweet, friendly,
[00:19:54] [SPEAKER_00]: and beautiful, but she was also quick-witted, smart, and feisty.
[00:20:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Samuel admired every part of her. She was a masterpiece. As much as he wanted to stay awake,
[00:20:17] [SPEAKER_00]: and speak to Giselle for eleven hours straight, Samuel found himself growing weary,
[00:20:25] [SPEAKER_00]: and the allure of his soft, fully reclining chair was too tempting not to embrace.
[00:20:36] [SPEAKER_00]: The air stewardess brought him a complimentary eye mask, soft blanket, and pillow,
[00:20:45] [SPEAKER_00]: and Samuel wasted no time in making himself comfortable,
[00:20:53] [SPEAKER_00]: and reclining his seat backwards to enjoy a little nap. Giselle did the same.
[00:21:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Samuel only hoped that he wouldn't start snoring while he rested. He slept for a good two hours,
[00:21:19] [SPEAKER_00]: and when he woke again, he was delighted to open his eyes to the view of Giselle ordering a glass
[00:21:29] [SPEAKER_00]: of champagne from the air stewardess. When she noticed that he was awake once more,
[00:21:41] [SPEAKER_00]: her face perked up, and she beamed down at him in his sleepy state.
[00:21:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Would you like a drink, or some food? Giselle asked him. Samuel nodded his head,
[00:22:00] [SPEAKER_00]: and Giselle ordered an additional meal and glass of champagne for him.
[00:22:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Rubbing his eyes, he sat up and pulled his chair back up straight. He hoped that his hair wasn't
[00:22:18] [SPEAKER_00]: too ruffled, and that he didn't have any marks on his face from where the eye mask had been
[00:22:27] [SPEAKER_00]: strapped on too tight. But as he gazed at Giselle, and she gazed back at him with her gentle eyes
[00:22:38] [SPEAKER_00]: and warm smile, he felt his insecurities melt away. He didn't feel like she was judging him
[00:22:51] [SPEAKER_00]: in any way. He felt totally comfortable in her presence.
[00:23:00] [SPEAKER_00]: The air stewardess returned with two glasses of crisp champagne,
[00:23:07] [SPEAKER_00]: and placed them on the table in between Samuel and Giselle's seats.
[00:23:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Then, she walked away to retrieve their hot meals. Giselle lifted her glass up in the air,
[00:23:25] [SPEAKER_00]: raising a toast. To you, Samuel, she began. May you continue to be your lovely self,
[00:23:36] [SPEAKER_00]: and help as many nervous elderly fliers as possible. Samuel chuckled and joked that she
[00:23:46] [SPEAKER_00]: made him sound like a superhero, one that looked out for and protected the elderly people of the
[00:23:55] [SPEAKER_00]: world. Giselle took a sip from her glass and cocked her eyebrow. There are many worse things
[00:24:05] [SPEAKER_00]: you could be, she added, teasingly. And Samuel took a sip from his glass too.
[00:24:15] [SPEAKER_00]: The sharp tang of the champagne made him wince. He had never been a big champagne drinker,
[00:24:25] [SPEAKER_00]: he much preferred a cold beer to wind down with. How come you're drinking champagne? Samuel asked
[00:24:37] [SPEAKER_00]: her. Are you celebrating something? He added. Giselle tilted her head, knowingly, and replied.
[00:24:49] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to a party when I get to LA, so I thought I'd get the party started a little bit
[00:24:57] [SPEAKER_00]: earlier with you. Samuel felt a tiny flicker of jealousy pang within him. He wished he could
[00:25:08] [SPEAKER_00]: attend a party with Giselle. He dreaded the idea of her meeting a handsome man at a party
[00:25:17] [SPEAKER_00]: and forgetting all about him. He shook off the feeling quickly.
[00:25:25] [SPEAKER_00]: A woman like Giselle would never be interested in a guy like him anyway.
[00:25:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Or, at least, that's what he thought at first. However, as the flight went on,
[00:25:42] [SPEAKER_00]: and the longer that Samuel and Giselle chatted, laughed, and got to know each other,
[00:25:50] [SPEAKER_00]: he started to feel like she might just be as interested in him as he was in her.
[00:26:00] [SPEAKER_00]: They barely paused for breath as they talked away for the best part of the 11-hour flight.
[00:26:10] [SPEAKER_00]: When the captain finally announced that they were preparing for landing,
[00:26:17] [SPEAKER_00]: both Samuel and Giselle were visibly disappointed. They fastened their seatbelts
[00:26:26] [SPEAKER_00]: and prepared to land and go their separate ways. As the plane touched down on the runway,
[00:26:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Samuel felt a wave of discontent wash over him. He didn't want to say goodbye to Giselle.
[00:26:54] [SPEAKER_00]: He would have happily stayed on the flight for another 11 hours with her.
[00:27:04] [SPEAKER_00]: The passengers in first class all rose from their seats and grabbed their hand luggage,
[00:27:12] [SPEAKER_00]: ready to disembark the plane before anyone else. Samuel was surprised by their efficiency.
[00:27:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Usually, he was stuck in economy class, waiting for several minutes before there was any sign
[00:27:34] [SPEAKER_00]: of movement off the plane. But here in first class, they were the priority passengers.
[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Giselle and the other members of first class trickled off the plane. Samuel followed behind,
[00:27:58] [SPEAKER_00]: staying as close to Giselle as possible to continue their conversation.
[00:28:06] [SPEAKER_00]: They made their way through passport control, strolling as idly as they could
[00:28:14] [SPEAKER_00]: to draw out their interaction for as long as possible. But as they reached the exit of the
[00:28:25] [SPEAKER_00]: airport, it became apparent that Giselle had to leave quickly. A car was already waiting for her
[00:28:36] [SPEAKER_00]: outside. As they stepped foot outside of the airport, and the fresh, warm air of LA hit their
[00:28:49] [SPEAKER_00]: faces, Samuel took a deep breath and prepared for the inevitable goodbye.
[00:29:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Giselle turned to Samuel and gazed at him with her alluring brown eyes.
[00:29:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for such a wonderful flight, she said softly. I had a great time getting to know you,
[00:29:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Samuel replied that it was equally his pleasure, and they gave each other a friendly hug,
[00:29:29] [SPEAKER_00]: holding on just a little longer than was normal. Giselle turned to leave, but paused suddenly.
[00:29:41] [SPEAKER_00]: She turned back to Samuel and smiled. She shook herself off and approached Samuel.
[00:29:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Asking, I don't suppose you want to exchange numbers? It would be nice to see you again
[00:30:00] [SPEAKER_00]: before you leave LA, if you have time. Samuel felt like all his Christmases had come at once.
[00:30:12] [SPEAKER_00]: He eagerly traded phone numbers with Giselle, and they both stood grinning at each other like
[00:30:21] [SPEAKER_00]: teenagers who had agreed to go on a date for the first time in their lives.
[00:30:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Samuel felt butterflies dancing around his stomach as he pocketed his mobile phone,
[00:30:38] [SPEAKER_00]: now carrying the precious information of Giselle's phone number.
[00:30:45] [SPEAKER_00]: He really hoped they would cross paths again. Samuel waved goodbye to Giselle,
[00:30:56] [SPEAKER_00]: as they went their separate ways. He watched the back of her head disappear out of sight
[00:31:05] [SPEAKER_00]: as he stood in line, waiting for a taxi. Samuel rode a taxi downtown to his hotel
[00:31:18] [SPEAKER_00]: and checked into his room. He threw himself on top of the king-size mattress
[00:31:25] [SPEAKER_00]: and buried his head in the soft pillow. First class was nice, but nothing could
[00:31:35] [SPEAKER_00]: beat the comfort of a hotel bed. Samuel closed his eyes and promptly fell asleep,
[00:31:47] [SPEAKER_00]: face down on the bed. When he came to, several hours later,
[00:31:55] [SPEAKER_00]: he called room service and ordered a pizza. He had picked up luxurious habits in first class,
[00:32:06] [SPEAKER_00]: and he wasn't prepared to let them go just yet. Maybe, for just one day,
[00:32:16] [SPEAKER_00]: he could treat himself and act as if he lived in the lap of luxury.
[00:32:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Tomorrow, he could wake up and return to reality. He unpacked his case and hung up his two suits
[00:32:35] [SPEAKER_00]: in the wardrobe. He would iron them tomorrow and choose his favorite before his big meeting.
[00:32:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Then, he pulled on his t-shirt and joggers and waited for his pizza to arrive.
[00:32:59] [SPEAKER_00]: In next to no time, his cheesy pizza arrived at his hotel room door.
[00:33:07] [SPEAKER_00]: He settled into bed with his pizza by his side and switched on the TV.
[00:33:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Nothing particularly stood out to him. Samuel had stopped watching TV years ago.
[00:33:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Nowadays, he watched programs on streaming services rather than following television
[00:33:35] [SPEAKER_00]: shows or going to the movies. Eventually, he landed on a news channel and left it rolling
[00:33:45] [SPEAKER_00]: while he picked up a slice of pizza and took a big, juicy bite. He chewed and laid back
[00:33:57] [SPEAKER_00]: against the headboard with his eyes closed, completely satisfied. Suddenly, his ears
[00:34:09] [SPEAKER_00]: pricked at the sounds of bustling reporters on the news channel discussing an exciting movie premiere
[00:34:17] [SPEAKER_00]: that was happening in Los Angeles tonight. Samuel swallowed his mouthful and opened his eyes
[00:34:27] [SPEAKER_00]: to observe the glamorous film premiere on the TV. He was about to take another bite out of his slice
[00:34:38] [SPEAKER_00]: when he stopped in his tracks, breathless.
[00:34:44] [SPEAKER_00]: On the television screen, right in front of his eyes, was Giselle. She was wearing a floor-length
[00:34:58] [SPEAKER_00]: black gown allegedly designed by Dolce & Gabbana, and the long, honey blonde hair that he had
[00:35:08] [SPEAKER_00]: admired on the airplane was now curled and styled to perfection. She looked beautiful as she posed
[00:35:20] [SPEAKER_00]: for the cameras and strutted along the red carpet. Samuel crawled forward on the bed for a
[00:35:31] [SPEAKER_00]: closer look. Surely, his eyes were deceiving him. Surely, that wasn't Giselle. He had sat next to her
[00:35:44] [SPEAKER_00]: on an airplane just mere hours before. How could someone as normal as him meet someone as famous
[00:35:57] [SPEAKER_00]: as her? And why would she waste her time talking to him? Samuel listened as the news host gushed
[00:36:09] [SPEAKER_00]: over Giselle's designer dress and how fabulous she looked. Samuel had to agree. She looked a
[00:36:21] [SPEAKER_00]: million dollars. As he listened to the TV commentary, he caught mention of her surname
[00:36:31] [SPEAKER_00]: and quickly typed her name into his phone. The TV presenter had called her Giselle Kendrick.
[00:36:43] [SPEAKER_00]: As soon as Samuel typed in her name, a whole host of webpage links flooded his phone screen.
[00:36:55] [SPEAKER_00]: It turned out that Giselle was, indeed, a famous Hollywood actress.
[00:37:04] [SPEAKER_00]: In fact, she had been in a film that Samuel had seen before. Although he could be forgiven for
[00:37:13] [SPEAKER_00]: not recognizing her due to the fact that her character in the film had a totally different
[00:37:20] [SPEAKER_00]: hair color and accent. Samuel sat down on his bed, feeling a little deflated.
[00:37:31] [SPEAKER_00]: So, the party that Giselle had been flying to LA for hadn't been your run-of-the-mill birthday party.
[00:37:41] [SPEAKER_00]: It had been for a movie premiere. Samuel felt like a fool for feeling a glimpse of hope
[00:37:53] [SPEAKER_00]: that he would bump into her again. Someone like Giselle Kendrick wouldn't be interested
[00:38:02] [SPEAKER_00]: in an average guy like Samuel Walters. Samuel laid back in his bed and worked his way through
[00:38:14] [SPEAKER_00]: the box of pizza, watching Giselle from afar and wishing that he was by her side.
[00:38:26] [SPEAKER_00]: It was a pipe dream to imagine that he could be with someone like Giselle in the first place.
[00:38:34] [SPEAKER_00]: But now that she was a movie star, he had no hope. Eventually, Samuel switched off the TV
[00:38:46] [SPEAKER_00]: and let the buzz of the radio act as the backdrop to his pity party.
[00:38:53] [SPEAKER_00]: He took a beer out of the hotel room fridge and walked out onto the balcony to clear his head.
[00:39:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Gazing at the phone in his hand, he flicked through his contacts list and came across
[00:39:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Giselle's name. Had she given him her actual number, or had she just given him a fake number
[00:39:21] [SPEAKER_00]: to appease him? He assumed the latter. But then, as if the universe had read his mind,
[00:39:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Samuel's phone buzzed and flashed as a text message came through. It was from Giselle.
[00:39:42] [SPEAKER_00]: He quickly opened up the text and read the message. His heart was beating hard in his chest,
[00:39:53] [SPEAKER_00]: his breath caught in his throat as he read the message Giselle had sent.
[00:40:00] [SPEAKER_00]: She said, this party is boring. Do you want to come join me and make the night more interesting?
[00:40:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Samuel was on cloud nine. Giselle had reached out and invited him to be her date at a movie
[00:40:20] [SPEAKER_00]: premiere. She clearly liked him as much as he had liked her. For a second, Samuel wasn't sure
[00:40:32] [SPEAKER_00]: how to reply. He didn't want to come across too eager, but he also didn't want to seem disinterested
[00:40:42] [SPEAKER_00]: because he was very interested indeed. He wanted to see Giselle again.
[00:40:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Every bone in his body was buzzing with endearment. He played it cool and typed back a reply
[00:41:02] [SPEAKER_00]: asking where he should meet her, to which she promptly responded with the address of a fancy
[00:41:10] [SPEAKER_00]: club in uptown Los Angeles. Samuel picked his favorite suit from the wardrobe and smoothed
[00:41:22] [SPEAKER_00]: it out with the iron. He could wear his other suit tomorrow for the meeting.
[00:41:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Tonight, he had an important date to attend and only the best would do.
[00:41:42] [SPEAKER_00]: He had just received an invite to a Hollywood party where he was sure to mingle with people
[00:41:52] [SPEAKER_00]: he had only ever seen through the television screen, but he hardly thought about that at all.
[00:42:02] [SPEAKER_00]: The only thing he felt was excitement to see the girl from the play. Samuel couldn't wait
[00:42:15] [SPEAKER_00]: to lay eyes again on the kind, funny woman from first class who had sat next to him and stolen
[00:42:27] [SPEAKER_00]: his heart.
