[00:00:40] I actually have spent a good part of my life on a farm. My grandma lived on one and I spent every summer of my childhood there. It is still a deeply soothing, beautiful, even magical place for me. I especially love when it rains. You can see the clouds darken over the vast fields and feel the power of the wind and rain and how it nourishes the earth, especially when it's been dry for a long while.

[00:01:09] Tonight, I'd like to take you on a journey to a quaint and wild farm in India where life, for now, has slowed and stilled. This farm, once vibrant and overflowing with life, has been waiting patiently, enduring a long and heavy drought. The crops, the trees, and the soil all yearn for the touch of rain.

[00:01:36] Let's spend time closely observing how the crops, trees, and soil interact with the seasons and adapt to their conditions. We'll experience the gentle patience of this waiting, the dryness of the air, and the stillness of the earth.

[00:01:52] Then, as the skies begin to become darker and the rains finally come, we'll experience the release, the relief, and the joy that fills the farm as life awakens from its slumber after another season of drought. Before we begin, our only ad break, which helps make this show possible. To listen ad-free, follow the link in the show notes.

[00:03:56] Settle in for the deepest rest of your life, and make sleeping your favorite part of the day. Let's start by getting into a nice and comfortable position, relaxing back into your mattress. Let all the stresses and strains of the day fade away as you enjoy your comfy bed.

[00:04:30] As you lie in a comfortable position, notice the sensations in your body. Notice how you feel as you sink into your mattress. Notice and locate any feelings of tightness. That's right. You might find tension in your shoulders, or maybe in your back, or even in your face.

[00:04:59] Allow your awareness to fall easily on the place of tension. With this easy awareness, let's begin to gently release this tension in your body, allowing yourself to relax deeply and fully. Bring your attention to the top of your head.

[00:05:29] Gently tense your forehead, holding for a moment. And then let it go. Feel the ease as you relax. Now, move to your jaw. Clench it softly for a moment, and then relax. Notice the tension melting away.

[00:06:00] Shift your focus to your shoulders. Lift them gently toward your ears. Hold. And release. Letting them drop. Feel your shoulders grow heavier, sinking down towards the ground. Clearness to your arms.

[00:06:30] Tense your biceps and forearms lightly. Hold. Hold. And let them soften completely. Feel your fingers resting naturally. Turn your attention to your chest. Take a deep breath in, filling your lungs.

[00:07:03] Slowly releasing any tightness. Let your breathing return to its natural rhythm. Now, focus on your abdomen. Draw it in slightly as you breathe in. And let it soften as you breathe out.

[00:07:35] Move down to your legs. Tense your thighs and calves gently. Hold. And really feel the weight of your legs sinking into the surface beneath you. Finally, bring your focus to your feet.

[00:08:05] Curl your toes tightly for a moment. And then let them feel your feet completely at rest. Feel your whole body as one. Fully relaxed, heavy, and supported.

[00:08:35] Imagine your body is grounding into the earth. Just like the roots of a tree. Feel this grounding connection.

[00:09:57] Now that your body feels relaxed and your breath feels calm, allow your awareness to expand further. Allow the boundaries of your body to soft, dissolving into the space around you.

[00:10:18] Allow yourself to be gently carried on the rhythm of your breath. As though each inhale lifts you. And each exhale allows you to float effortlessly. Weightless. With every breath,

[00:10:47] feel yourself drifting further away from your current surroundings.

[00:10:53] As though you are traveling on a soft as you drift.

[00:11:33] Begin to notice the air becoming warmer. And sense the faint scent of dry earth and sunlight. The world around you starts to take shape. A diverse and lively ecosystem begins to unfold in front of you. Step by step,

[00:12:02] you start to arrive at a peaceful farm, nestled in the heart of thick woods. Take a moment to fully arrive here. Feel your feet on the warm, dry ground. Solid, yet welcoming beneath you.

[00:12:27] Notice the gentle rustling of leaves in the breeze. The soft hum of insects moving through the air. Look around and take in the scene. The farm stretches out before you. Peaceful and quiet. Still.

[00:12:55] The crops stand tall, but subdued. Their leaves curling slightly in the heat. Conserving their energy. Dotted within the taller crops, there are a number of smaller plants. From bright orange marigolds to pea pods. This blend of crops, flowers, and vegetables

[00:13:23] has been specifically selected to match the natural ecosystem of this land. The soil beneath the plants is dry. Its surface cracked and dusty. Yearning for water to be able to distribute rich nutrients to the crops and flowers above.

[00:13:51] Nearby, you see a bee moving slowly from flower to flower. Working tirelessly, searching for nectar. Flowers are faded. Their petals conserving every ounce of moisture. Even the trees seem to hold their breath.

[00:14:18] Their branches outstretched toward the sky, as if reaching for the rain. Connect to the energy of this place. It's alive, but resting. Waiting. Conserving. Everything here is connected. Each plant.

[00:14:48] Each tree. Each creature. Part of a delicate, intricate system that adapts to nature's rhythms. Each element of the ecosystem is supporting and providing for the others in a selfless and compassionate way. Every plant.

[00:15:19] Every crop. Every insect and bird. Are interconnected. Providing stability for the whole. As you stand in this stillness, notice your own breath. Bring your awareness to it.

[00:15:48] Notice how your breath may mirror the farm's quiet anticipation. A stillness with unlimited possibility. With each inhale, you draw in the warmth and energy of the land. With each exhale,

[00:16:15] you release any remaining tension.

[00:16:23] Feel your feet on the dry soil beneath you.

[00:17:02] Notice how it feels under your feet. The air around you feels warm and still, carrying the faint scent of the earth. You crouch down and pick up a clump of soil. Break it apart with your fingers.

[00:17:26] It easily crumbles and falls back to the earth. You sit down on the soil. You sit down on the soil. Among the crops. Letting yourself become part of the farm. As you pick up another clump of soil, pull it through your fingers again.

[00:17:53] You place your hand on the ground, feeling the texture of the soil beneath your palm. It feels dry and rough, yet you sense the potential within it. The life force waiting quietly, holding its breath for the rain to release it.

[00:18:23] As you close your eyes, you feel deeply connected to this land. To its stillness, its anticipation, its quiet strength. You are no longer separate from the farm. You are part of its elaborate ecosystem. Part of its story.

[00:18:55] Each plant, each tree, each flower, is alive. Just as you are. Their energy pulses softly, patiently, as they conserve what little they have, waiting for the rains to come. With your hand on the ground, as you imagine the crop's roots

[00:19:25] stretching deep into the earth, seeking nourishment, and their leaves reaching toward the sky, longing for rain. The life of the farm mirrors your own rhythms, your own cycles of rest, renewal, and growth.

[00:19:52] Each breath you take seems to synchronize with the gentle energy of the crops. Your awareness expand outward, sensing the presence of a person standing on the side of the field. It's a farmer. It's a farmer. You can tell that he deeply cares for this land.

[00:20:21] You watch as he moves slowly through the fields, his steps deliberate, his hands tending to the crops with care and devotion. Notice the deep love he has for this farm, for every plant and tree. His connection is not one of ownership,

[00:20:51] but of partnership, a quiet understanding that he and the land are one. See how he pauses for a moment, gazing toward the sky, his thoughts with the rain that he knows must come. Every day he waits for the rains,

[00:21:18] his heart quietly yearning for his crops to be hydrated. Despite the drought, he continues his work, with his spirit calm and assured, using the last reserves from his rainwater tanks to nourish the fields. Moves with quiet determination, careful and deliberate,

[00:21:49] tending to the plants as if they are his children, as if they are a part of him. You sense his trust. He knows the rain will come. He can feel it. Yet, in this moment, he holds the weight of the waiting, the stillness of the dry season.

[00:22:19] Now, soften your awareness further. Let your awareness drift to the cycles of nature that are always present. The shift from dry to wet, from clear skies to cloudy ones, from drought to rain.

[00:22:45] These movements in our ecosystem are as natural as the breath moving in and out of your body.

[00:23:24] You look up and notice how the sky has changed. The bright blue expanse that was previously overhead has deepened. Dark gray clouds now gather on the horizon, heavy with potential. The air also feels different. Thicker, heavier.

[00:23:53] You sense it in the crops, in the trees, and in the soil. Everything is now quietly anticipating, holding its breath, reaching up further into the sky, waiting for the first drops of rain. All of a sudden,

[00:24:21] a cool sensation brushes your thumb, delicate and light. A single drop of water. Then another lands on your head. And another. And before you know it, the rain begins to fall. Gently at first. Each drop landing with a soft patter on the dry soil,

[00:24:50] the leaves of the crops, and your skin. The rhythm quickens. The rain cascading down all around you, washing over the farm, over you, over everything. The sound of the rain fills your ears as a gentle pitter-patter over the land.

[00:25:20] Feel the rain as it touches your skin, cool and refreshing. A relief so profound that it seems to wash away not just the dryness of the farm, but any tension you've been holding in your own body. The soil beneath you begins to soften, welcoming the nourishment it has waited for.

[00:25:51] Sway gently in the rain. Their leaves uncurling, their stems lifting, as if to embrace the downpour. A deep exhale release of the tension that feels as though it comes not just from within you, but from the entire farm,

[00:26:22] soaking into the soil, dripping from the leaves, pooling in small rivulets that snake through the fields. You feel a sense of joy welling up within you, overflowing, spreading outward into the crop of trees. As the rain continues,

[00:26:51] you turn your gaze toward the farmer once again. He stands in the field, his face turned upward, his hands slightly outstretched, feeling the refreshing rain wash over his hands. His relief is visible, a quiet joy that mirrors the release felt by the crops.

[00:27:20] His connection to this land, his love for it, is written in every gesture, in the way he moves among the plants, touching them gently, as if thanking them for their patience, almost overwhelming in its abundance.

[00:27:48] It's as though the skies are pouring out their love, their nourishment, with no hesitation, no holding back. You feel this renewal within yourself, too, a deep replenishment, a reminder of the cycles of nature, the way that dryness and rain,

[00:28:18] tension and release, are all of the same flow. You sit quietly, letting the rain wash over you, feeling life returning to the land, to the crops, to you. The rain fills you, nourishes you,

[00:28:46] connects you to the land, and the endless cycles of nature. As the rain continues to fall, its rhythm becomes softer now, like a lullaby soothing the land to rest. The downpour begins to slow,

[00:29:12] each drop blending seamlessly into the earth, nourishing it deeply. The air feels lighter, cooler, carrying the scent of wet soil, a scent of renewal, of life returning. Feel this renewal within yourself, too.

[00:29:40] The rain has washed away the tension, the dryness, the waiting. Just as the crops are now soaking in the life-giving water, your body is absorbed in the deep calm of the farm, leaving you refreshed and at ease.

[00:30:08] Let us connect once again to our body. Tune in to any sensations you may have in your body. Give yourself the gift of releasing any lingering tightness, and allow yourself to fully let go into rest.

[00:30:34] Bring your breath of your head, gently tense the muscles in your forehead, holding for a moment, then feeling a wave of relaxation spreading down through your scalp, and into your face. Let your eyebrows soften,

[00:31:03] your jaw loosen, your cheeks feel the gentle warmth of ease settling here. Now, move to your neck and shoulders. Let them draw.

[00:31:29] Let the relaxation flow down into your hands and fingers. Feel the weights of your arms rest. Bring your attention to your chest, and take a deep breath in, filling your lungs completely,

[00:32:04] and then exhale slowly, releasing any tightness in your shoulders or your chest. Let your breath settle back into its neck. Easy.

[00:32:41] Gently pulling it in, holding the tension, feeling what your entire torso feels now.

[00:33:11] Shift your focus to your legs, tense your thighs and calves gently, and then let them relax. Feel the warmth spreading down into your feet, into each toe.

[00:33:45] Feel your entire, completely relaxed, and the tension has melted away. Just as the rain has softened the earth, your body feels grounded, refreshed, and deeply nourished.

[00:34:17] As you rest here, to slow even further, each inhale brings renewal, and each exhale carries away anything you no longer need. Like the farm, you too are rejuvenating yourself,

[00:34:45] preparing for the growth of tomorrow. Just as the farm needed the rain to rejuvenate and flourish, you too need this time of stillness and sleep to restore your energy, to nurture your body and mind.

[00:35:16] This is your time to let go completely, to surrender.

[00:36:00] Your awareness just drift now, like a soft breeze, carrying you into the quiet embrace of sleep. Feel your body growing heavier, more peaceful, as though you are sinking gently into the earth, cradled by its warmth and steadiness. The rhythm of your breath,

[00:36:29] like the rhythm of the rain, soothes you, guides you deeper. You are exactly where you need to be. Supported,

[00:36:56] just as the crops are rejuvenating themselves, soaking in the refreshing rain, you too are soaking in the calm, the stillness, the peace of this moment to drift off, knowing that this time of rest

[00:37:24] is as essential as the rain for the farm. It will rejuvenate you, preparing you to grow, to flourish, to move through the cycles of your own life.
