[00:00:27] Envy is a natural feeling that we've all experienced. But if that feeling of comparing yourself to others, or wishing you could have what someone else has, is keeping you up at night, it's time to bring some space and awareness to it.

[00:00:45] I once had a yoga teacher who said, stay on your own mat, to which he meant, don't look around and see what fancy thing the person next to you may be doing. It's not about doing the fancy stuff.

[00:00:59] Each of us is on our own path and are going at our own pace. But it's so easy to compare our experience to others, especially since we can be inundated with the filtered highlight reel of people's lives on social media and feel in some way that we don't match up or are missing out.

[00:01:20] One thing that sometimes was a challenge about my life as an actor was overcoming a sense of jealousy when friends would have success when I wasn't having any. I remember having an audition once in an office building, and while riding the elevator up together, a businessman asked me, how do you deal with the rejection? To which I laughed gamely and said, you get used to it.

[00:01:47] But looking back, I don't know if that was entirely true for me. There were stretches of time when I would put my whole heart and soul into a bunch of auditions and not get any of the jobs. That could be deeply depleting. But sometimes more challenging than that was watching friends book jobs when I wasn't, or an acquaintance reaching a new level of success I didn't feel like I could attain.

[00:02:16] The saying, comparison is the thief of joy, is a phrase that became startlingly true for me. So I began to try out celebrating, truly celebrating with my whole heart, when a friend booked a great job. And when I got a job I really wanted and I was riding high on that feeling of elation and joy, I would wish for the other actors I knew to have this same feeling too.

[00:02:45] Before long, there was no effort needed for me to feel a great deal of joy for my friends' wins, and I began to have more consistent success too. It became easier to see that just because someone else was getting what I wanted didn't mean that there wasn't enough for me too.

[00:03:13] Tonight's episode of Sleepwave is sponsored by Vinted. Every so often, I open my wardrobe and realize how many clothes are taking up space without being worn. You know the ones. You think their moment will come, but somehow it never does. Vinted offers a practical way to clear some of that space. It's a secondhand marketplace app where everyday people can sell pre-loved fashion and earn some extra money.

[00:03:39] I like the idea that clothes I bought for special occasions can now have their own story with somebody else rather than sitting forgotten at the back of a wardrobe. Listing items on Vinted is quick and simple and there are no seller fees, so you keep everything you earn. Once something sells, Vinted also creates the prepaid shipping label for you. So if your wardrobe is feeling crowded, Vinted could help you make some space and be less wasteful at the same time.

[00:04:07] Ready to clean out your closet and make some extra money? Download the Vinted app for free and start listing. With no seller fees, you keep every dollar you earn and, for a limited time, enjoy free shipping in the U.S. on Vinted. Ready to get back to your routine with a bang? When busy days call for takeaways, Deliveroo's got you. Smash through your inbox? Bring on that Nando's. Conquer the school run? Celebrate with Sprout & Co. Mmm, fueling up for that study sesh?

[00:04:36] Boojum's on the way. And we'll deliver in as little as 25 minutes. Order now. Deliveroo. Back to it. Takeaways just got even better. Geographical restrictions, T's and C's and fees apply. Delivery times vary. See app or web for info.
