[00:00:10] Hello and welcome back to Sleep Wave. Carissa here and tonight you are in for a treat friends. We are going to be whisked away on a Mediterranean vacation while we drift off to dreamland. This is our weekly free episode. If you've been enjoying the show, join our Sleep Wave family and become a subscriber. All the details are below in the show notes.

[00:00:34] Is there anything better than a truly indulgent vacation? I love getting away from it all and feeling my body unclench and letting my mind drift. Let's do that together tonight as we enjoy a relaxing visualization of the stunning Mediterranean where you can put down your worries and get ready for a deep, relaxing sleep.

[00:01:02] Before we begin, our only ad break which helps make this show possible. To listen ad free, follow the link in the show notes. If your family enjoys the stories here on Sleep Wave and you're looking for something to listen to during the day, I think you'll love this. It's a podcast called The Alien Adventures of Finn Caspian. It's a serialized science fiction story about an eight year old and his friends exploring space and solving mysteries.

[00:01:30] Told in 15 to 20-minute episodes that are perfect for car rides or for winding down at the end of the day. The podcast is recorded by Jonathan Messenger and his son Griffin in the basement of their home and has a similar warm narrator feel that we have here on Sleep Wave.

[00:01:49] It's built a whole host of loyal fans and even a shout out from Time Out magazine who pointed out how much fun kids have following the cruise adventures, exploring new planets, meeting aliens, and helping shape what happens next. It's one of those stories kids can get completely drawn into. And one I'm sure you'll enjoy listening to with them.

[00:02:12] So, if you're looking for a story podcast to share with your family, look for The Alien Adventures of Finn Caspian on Apple Podcasts or head to gzmshows.com for more info. And be sure to tell them Sleep Wave sent you. So, first things first, let's settle down as you lay in your bed right here, right now.

[00:02:36] Begin to take that deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth. In through your nose and out through your mouth. And one last time, let it go. And just letting your breath settle. Just letting your breath, your body, know that you're here.

[00:03:06] Taking it easy. Not piling any more pressure onto yourself. It's time to let go of the day and take our trip. You're coming in to rest. You're coming in to land. And one of the beautiful things about that is that your imagination can come back online.

[00:03:37] Feeling into that breath. Moment to moment. And it starts to feel as if the middle of your mind is just unfolding. It's resting and relaxing and beginning to settle down. And you even think back to how you felt at the beginning of this. And the corners of your mouth turn up a little in a smile. Gently. Warmly.

[00:04:06] At the thoughts of just how warm and comfortable you can be. Feeling into the surface underneath you. And even feeling out into the space around you. Just breathing in. Breathing out. Maybe even wriggling a little.

[00:04:32] And nestling down into the space around you. You've been here before. This feeling of winding down is familiar. And it gets deeper and easier every time. Breathing in. And breathing.

[00:05:03] Feeling yourself expand into the space. Into the space around you. Taking time. Taking the opportunity to enjoy that feeling. Of just rolling out into the space around you. It's easy for you to begin to imagine that doorway. That magical doorway.

[00:05:32] The doorway in your mind. And the doorway in your imagination. Imagine this doorway. Appearing to you now. Get a sense of the kind of gentle. Childlike excitement of story time. Of easy listening. Of restful sleeps.

[00:06:01] And delighted hearts. Imagine as if you can see yourself. From a third person perspective. Resting. Laying there. And also that door. That magical door. That magical door you know so well.

[00:06:27] Imagine what the door is. Imagine the frame. Imagine the handle. And you know that all of this is laying a foundation within your being. Within your mind. And within your body. To rest ever so deeply. You imagine yourself arising.

[00:06:58] And moving toward that door. How does the door appear to you today? You reach out. reach out. Grasp the handle. And begin to turn. The door opens. And you step through. You find yourself at the edge of a Mediterranean villa.

[00:07:28] Bathed in the final glow of dusk. A scene so peaceful you feel your heart stop for just a bit. Your chest fills up with sweet air. And you let out a long and luxurious. The air is warm and still.

[00:07:54] Filled with the scent of wild rosemary and jasmine. The sun hangs low over the horizon. Casting long shadows across the garden and stone terraces. A quiet hush lingers in the evening air.

[00:08:19] Speckled with the sounds of insects on their nightly errands. And everything glows with radiant warmth. And comforting tones of light. Terracotta walls. Olive trees. The distant mountains etched softly against a sky of molten orange. Rose gold. And deepening blue.

[00:08:52] You draw your breath in easily. And as you breathe it out. The body begins to settle. A softening moves across your chest. Down through your belly. And into your legs. You feel yourself arriving.

[00:09:22] Not just in this place. But in your body. Present. Calm. Unhurried. The clouds above are smooth and slow. Brushed lightly across the heavens. Their edges glowing with a silver-pink shimmer.

[00:09:50] They drift as if asleep already. The light wraps everything in a quiet warmth. That feels calm. And kind. A stone pathway leads you gently forward. Smooth underfoot and still warm from the day. You walk slowly. Unrushed. Unrushed.

[00:10:20] Your body moving easily through the air that now carries the faintest coolness. Just enough to soothe. To soften. To still you to your bones. With every step. A little more of the day slips away.

[00:10:49] The muscles in your legs lengthen. The soles of your feet spread slightly into the stone. And a quiet rhythm begins. Your movements. Your breath. The quiet reassuring of the hazed hum of the garden around you.

[00:11:19] You step into the garden. Where a collection of fruit trees grows in rich, dark soil. Branches sway slightly in the breeze. Bearing ripe fruit. Full and ready. The scent grows sweeter here. Fig. Lemon. Peach. And plum. All the fruits of the earth.

[00:11:49] All the fruits you can imagine. Leaves rustle gently above. As if the trees are gently dancing with you. Their undersides silvered by the fading light. Letting you know you are in the right place. And you breathe out. Feeling that sense of welcome.

[00:12:19] Ripple through your body. You breathe in again. Fuller this time. And your body welcomes it. Your arms hang loose. The back of your neck feels long and soft. The breath seems to move through the whole of you now. Unblocking.

[00:12:47] You walk until one tree draws you in. The fruit here seems to call to you. Plump and radiant against the dusk. Its colors are vivid and welcoming. You move closer. Observing the shape and curve of the fruit.

[00:13:16] How it rests on the branch. How the skin catches the light. Reaching out. Your fingers gently close around the fruit. It comes away easily. Perfectly. It rests in your palm like something always meant to be there. You turn it slowly in your hand.

[00:13:45] The skin is smooth and slightly cool. The fragrance rises up immediately. Rich. Carrying the story of sun and soil. A breeze moves softly across your cheek. You stand there for a moment. Grounded. Still.

[00:14:14] The weight of the fruit anchoring you gently. And your whole body seems to understand. It's safe to let go now. You lift it to your lips. And take a bite. The taste is immediate and full. Flooding your senses. Sweet. Juicy.

[00:14:46] You chew slowly. Swallow gently. Each mouthful settles you more deeply into this moment. This place. With each bite, the body softens further. The flavors linger. Then feel licious.

[00:15:14] You find yourself walking slowly now. Your footsteps quiet on the warm stone path. The sounds of the villa have softened. Just a hush of distant breeze. The creek of old wood. A low rustle of leaves.

[00:15:45] A small pond into a curve of the garden. Waits for you. You sit down nearby. Perhaps on a smooth stone warmed by the sun. Or under the long arms of an olive tree.

[00:16:12] The surface of the pond is still. Lily pads float there. Some gently brushing the edges of one another. A few delicate water lilies open their precious pink-tinged petals. Resting quietly.

[00:16:42] As if exhaling after a long... You see dragonflies. Wings catching the last light like flickers of silver. They glide and hover. Then settle along the edge of the pond. Still at last.

[00:17:12] Swallows dip low across the surface. Skimming the water in smooth, steady arc. Taking tiny sip and sweeping back gracefully into the sky. Everything is slowing.

[00:17:41] Look into the water. Something beautiful begins to happen. The pond's surface. Smooth and reflective. Holds more than the sky. You see glimpses. Not sharp.

[00:18:11] Not exact. But soft memories rising like ripples. Moments from your other times. You felt like this. Quietly alive.

[00:18:42] Maybe you remember being outside somewhere peaceful. Maybe it was a holiday afternoon. Maybe just a few seconds of stillness. Where the light fell a certain way. And everything.

[00:19:14] The water shows you these feelings. Not as pictures. But as a knowing. A soft remembering in your chest. And as you sit there. You feel yourself being welcomed back. To this way of being. To this part of yourself that remembers.

[00:19:45] How to rest. How to listen. How to be full of life. And still completely calm. The sounds. The scents. The golden light. Reflected on water. They all speak to you. In a language deeper. Than.

[00:20:16] And something inside says. Yes. This is me too. The stillness. The beauty. The life. It's all part of me.

[00:21:34] Continuing now. Deeper into the garden. You arrive at a wide. Low. Cushioned chairs sit waiting beneath the wooden pergola. Laced with flowering vines. You sink down into one. The cushions cradling your body perfectly.

[00:22:04] Every part of you feels supported. Nothing to hold up. Nothing to manage. The chair does it all for you. The garden stills. The last birds.

[00:22:31] Warm thickness settles across the land. You lean back. The stone beneath your feet. Is still faintly warm. The air brushes gently across your skin. Overhead. The sky deepens into violet. Scattered now.

[00:23:01] With stars. The breath moves in. With each exhale. The shoulders widen. The belly soften.

[00:23:33] You feel enticed. By the chair. By the quiet. You lift your gaze. The sky opens wide above you.

[00:24:05] Of pinpoints of light flicker gently. Others glow steadily. One star draws your attention bright. Still. You let your focus rest there.

[00:24:35] On that one point of light. As if that star has been waiting for you to notice it. And without effort. Without effort. A gentle wish begins to rise from within you. Steady wish. Not rushed.

[00:25:04] Not grasped. Just present. You send it to that star. A wish of peace. A wish of clarity. A soft and trusting wish. Offered simply. And freely.

[00:25:32] The air around you thickens with calm. The whole sky breathes quietly with you. The night holds you. The earth beneath you receives you. Everything stills. Everything rests.

[00:26:01] You remain in the chair. Soft and supported. Nothing more needed. Just stillness. Just space. The fruit tree. The sky. The mountains in the distance. All watching over you now.

[00:26:29] A peaceful shush. Settles in your chest. A gentle stillness surrounds your body. Just the stars. Just the air. Just this moment. And that sense of welcome and peace.

[00:26:58] With the scene around you. Just mirrors and echoes beautifully. That sense of space and peace within your body now. Breathing in.

[00:28:32] The magic door gently appears in front of you.

[00:28:56] You step towards the door of this beach. Move towards the door. Or take the handle. Gracefully just walking through.

[00:29:23] And closing the door behind you. Just breathing in and breathing out. Letting that all settle down.

[00:29:55] You're back where you started. And just as you send yourself off to sleep now. Just feel gently again. With that warm slumber filled smile. Into the middle of your chest.

[00:30:24] And in to the space around you.

[00:31:34] Take care. I'll see you again soon. Thank you.
